National Award
It is a matter of great honour that the National Award for Child Welfare for the year 2000 was conferred on Bal Niketan in recognition of its continuous outstanding voluntary work in the field of child development. For this Award, Bal Niketan was selected through a rigorous process both at the State and National level.

The National Awards were presented by His Excellency Shri K.R. Narayanan, the then President of India at a special function held at Rashtarpati Bhawan, New Delhi on 14.2.2002. The Award for Bal Niketan was received from the President by its Hony. Secretary Dr. Madhu Sharma with the Citation and Award Money cheque for Rs. 2,00,000 (Rs. Two Lacs). The Citation of the National Award to Bal Niketan is reproduced below:
